REPORT: All-Star Confirmed To Be Traded Within The Week
Within the last week, several different pieces of information have been building to heavily indicate that an All-Star level goaltender will be traded this week. The goalie in question has been in trade rumors for months and now things seem to have reached a tipping point.
All-Star Goalie Says His Goodbye To Home Fans
Earlier this week an odd scene occurred during a Calgary Flames home game. Goaltender Jacob Markstrom was seen giving away pucks for several minutes at the end of the team's warmups.
Even when he's backed up, I've never seen him do that before, ever.
Many fans and media at the moment saw this as a nice gesture by Markstrom to thank the fans for their support over the years. It was also seen as a goodbye of sorts from Markstrom who has been linked to several different destinations in a trade. This was further backed up by a new report that indicates Markstrom is as good as gone at the trade deadline.
New Report Confirms Markstrom's Trade Deadline Fate
Heading into the NHL trade deadline Jacob Markstrom had said he was open to whatever outcome ends up happening regarding his future. He said he would prefer to stay in Calgary but understands the business. Now a new report is suggesting that Markstrom's days in Calgary are coming to an end.
Eric Francis who has sources around the league confirms that he would be shocked to see Markstrom still with the Flames by the trade deadline. With Markstrom's actions earlier this week and now this news and Markstrom blockbuster feels as though it is just around the corner.
