Chicago Blackhawks Head Coach Disses Connor Bedard With Hilarious Comments
Connor Bedard's head coach, Luke Richardson, had a hilarious comment about the 18-year-old rookie stating how he is not yet an all-situations player.
Richardson Fires Shots At Bedard With Hilarious Comments
Recently, fans have been wondering why Connor Bedard is not on the ice during all situations for the Blackhawks. He is far and away their most dynamic talent and the prospect of having on the ice means he is always a threat to score.
When questioned on why Bedard is not an all-situations player quite yet, Blackhawks head coach Luke Richardson had a hilarious comeback.
Asked Luke Richardson why not let Connor Bedard see every game situation:
Richardson: «I think he will see every situation some of it will be from the bench.»
Bedard's Lacking Defensive Game
While Bedard is phenomenal with the puck on his tape, he is still not quite a defensive stalwart. As it currently stands, Bedard is tied for second worst on the Blackhawks in +/- with a -15 on the season. While it is not the best stat to determine how good a player is defensively, it offers some insight relative to his teammates.
On the other hand, the Blackhawks actually have a couple of players who are +'s on the season and they are much better served playing together to shut down the opposition.
Bedard's defense will likely develop a lot in the coming years and we can expect to see him one day play in all situations for the Blackhawks. Till then, he can watch some situations from the bench.
