On Thursday, a major bombshell was dropped on the Spittin Chiclets 'Game Notes' podcast, with the revelation that not one but two major superstars could be eyeing off a partnership with the 18-year old superstar Connor Bedard.
That rumour has both Elias Pettersson and William Nylander moving on from their current teams in Vancouver and Toronto to pair up with Bedard as the Blackhawks look for another dynasty this century.
Today however, Elliotte Friedman, regarded as one of the top NHL Insiders in the game addressed this rumour, and while he didn't outright say it wasn't happening, he did say that these links may be premature.
After a career season a year ago and a red-hot start to 2023-24 with 43 points in just 36 games, it comes as a surprise that Pettersson is still seemingly not a lock to return to Vancouver as he hits free agency this summer.
Ultimately, this is a player that wants to win, and while Vancouver may give him a great chance at that over the next two or three years, it's clear that if Chicago can get a top pick this season and add a player of Nylander's stature, being 25-years old may give Pettersson the time to grow alongside Bedard into a winner. Only time will tell however.
