Nick Foligno Calls Out His Young Teammates After Embarrassing Loss
The Blackhawks are well and truly in the thick of a rebuild but that did not stop veteran forward Nick Foligno from calling out his teammates after a bad loss against the St. Louis Blues.
Foligno Calls Out Rookies On Depleted Blackhawks Squad
The veteran did not hold back when sharing his thoughts on his teammates' performance Sunday night.
"Twenty games in you kind of understand the league a little bit or you shouldn't. I'm not saying it's gonna be perfect, but there's got to be a little bit more of a commitment to that."
Foligno continued by correctly pointing out that Chicago's rookies and young players in general need to be part of the long-term solution. The 36-year-old likely will not be around the next time the Hawks make the playoffs, especially considering his status as an unrestricted free agent this offseason.
"Your hair should be on fire this whole year. Because you could be a big part of building this and being a part of the future of this. There is no excuse for that. Every time we step on the ice, find your motivation whatever it may be. I can think about 10 (things) already and I'm a 36-year-old guy. So that should through every guy in this room."
Chicago Blackhawks Season Unravelling After Key Losses
The Blackhawks fell to 6-13 following the loss to St. Louis. While not many expected the team to be competitive this year, it seemed like they might have a little magic with Bedard's early season success. However, now that the team has had multiple key losses in Taylor Hall and Corey Perry, it seems that the team may be destined for the top end of the draft lottery once again.
As seen on Frustrated, Nick Foligno critical of younger teammates after loss.
