Rumor: the final three NHL teams to land Corey Perry emerge
With Corey Perry eligible to come back to the NHL, many contending teams should show interest in the veteran, despite a rough end in Chicago, where his contract was terminated.
"Can confirm that Corey Perry is eligible to sign with any NHL team as a free agent after having his contract terminated by the #blackhawks on Nov. 30.
He would need to sign by the March 8 trade deadline in order to be eligible for this year's playoffs."
Even if Elliotte Friedman dotted some i's, saying that Perry's contract wouldn't have been terminated if he had been in any other organization, there were still doubts about his comeback this season.
"Interesting part on Elliott Friedman's 32TP.
«There is definitely a feeling here that if this had happened on any other team (besides the Chicago Blackhawks) it might not have led to a contract termination» (regarding Corey Perry's terminated contract with the Hawks)"
The Blackhawks had many behavioral problems within their organization over recent years. They simply couldn't be associated with controversial players anymore, even as talented as Perry.
However, a new development suggests that Perry still generates a lot of interest around the league.
Three Top Teams Still Very Interested in Perry
Corey Perry is no stranger to helping teams during playoffs. In the last four years, the veteran made it three times to the Stanley Cup Final, with the Dallas Stars, Montreal Canadiens, and Tampa Bay Lightning.
A new rumor states that the race to get Perry is down to three teams, all looking for a long playoff run: the Toronto Maple Leafs, Edmonton Oilers, and Tampa Bay Lightning.
"Some news concerning Perry I'm hearing that it's down to Toronto, Edmonton, and Tampa"
All of these teams could use Perry's help, especially if he comes at a low price.
The Ontario native has until March 8th to join a team. We can't wait to see where he ends up.
