Team Refuses to Wear Pride Jerseys Due to Players' Inclusion
Pride Night has become quite a controversial topic amongst hockey fans lately. Many believe that pride and other social issues do not have a place in hockey, while others argue that hockey is for everyone, and that the NHL should make everyone feel welcomed.
Blackhawks take their stance on pride
The Blackhawks, amongst other teams, have decided to cancel wearing pride warmup jerseys on their Pride Night, citing that they are concerned for their 3 Russian players, who could possibly be arrested if they are seen in a pride jersey.
This is most disappointing that Russia would arrest a player for simply expressing themselves, we believe that the NHL is for everyone and that hopefully the other special festivities at Pride Night make up for the lack of pride jerseys.
