Former Columbus Blue Jackets captain Nick Foligno who stepped up to the plate and shared a message that he himself knows fans aren't going to want to hear.
Foligno called on his teammates to shut out the voices of the Maple Leafs fan base and simply focus on the task at hand. In fact Foligno even argued that facing this kind of adversity in the playoffs could serve as a springboard for the Maple Leafs moving forward.
"Don't worry about what the fans are saying. It doesn't matter,"
said Foligno in response to backlash from the Leafs fan base.
This happens for a reason. Sometimes this is what catapults you. It's hard for the fanbase to hear right now, but we're going to come with the mindset that we're going to win a hockey game.
Foligno has been no stranger to overcoming adversity throughout his career.
