Columbus Blue Jackets have reportedly not hired Todd McLellan
The Columbus Blue Jackets made a surprise coaching move this off-season already, and now, they're narrowing their search for a new coach down.
Despite promoting Pascal Vincent to the Head Coach role last season, the Blue Jackets swiftly moved off him this season after a poor performance, as they felt he didn't fit well with the future of the team. Now, according to Kevin Weekes, the team may be zeroing in on former Edmonton Oilers Head Coach Jay Woodcroft.
Among the top candidates for @BlueJacketsNHL HC is Jay Woodcroft. Young, vibrant, relates well to today's athletes, has had playoff success including a Stanley Cup 💍, and was a key part of the development & transformation in Edmonton. #cbj #HockeyX
This is a departure from recent reports that have indicated former Los Angeles Kings boss Todd McLellan may be a potential candidate for the role.
Todd McLellan reportedly not officially CBJ head coach
Jay Woodcroft is top of their list, per Kevin Weekes.
Nothing is official yet, but after being a key part of the turnaround in Edmonton, Woodcroft was bound to get another job, and if this is the case, it's certainly a solid hire for Columbus, who are building an incredibly bright future through the draft, with another pick to come this week.
