Edmonton Makes A Historic Move With New Hiring
The Edmonton Oilers today announced a historic hiring of a female hockey legend. The Oilers have hired Dani Rylan Kearney as a regional scout.
We're pleased to announce that Dani Rylan Kearney has been added to the #Oilers hockey operations department as a regional scout.
Dani played for @GoNUwhockey before founding & serving as commissioner of the National Women's Hockey League. Welcome, @DaniRylan!
Kearney is a legend when it comes to women's hockey and will look to bring her expertise to the NHL now.
Kearney Brings Her Women's Hockey Success To The NHL
Kearney was a successful player at Northeastern where she played 70 career games in the NCAA. She is likely better known for being the founder of the highly successful women's professional hockey league the NWHL.
Kearney founded and was the commissioner of the NWHL up until 2020. She helped bring women's professional hockey into the mainstream hockey scene.
Since leaving the NWHL Kearney has been working as a corporate consultant. She also started a youth hockey program in Long Island that had a successful girl's program.
Now she will bring everything she has learned throughout her hockey journey to the NHL. Kearney will now focus on the next generation of NHL talent and identifying who might be the next stars of the Edmonton Oilers.
