A tragic end is on the horizon for the NHL career of Stanley Cup champion and current member of the Edmonton Oilers Corey Perry.

Once considered to be among the NHL's elite, Corey Perry's career took a bad turn this season.

What started with a great opportunity with the Chicago Blackhawks alongside Connor Bedard turned to a nightmare when the organization decided to terminate his contract, following an incident during a team event.

He stepped away for quite some time and ended up receiving an offer from the Edmonton Oilers.

In January, he signed a $775,000 to play the rest of the season and the playoffs with the Oilers.

Unfortunately, things haven't been going according to the plan for him.

He was scratched from the 6th and 7th games against the Vancouver Canucks, and also missed the first game of the Western Conference Finals against the Dallas Stars on Thursday night.

It's definitely not the way Perry would've wished to finish his great career. While we could still see him in the line up in the playoffs, if the Oilers continue to win and perform well, it's possible that Kris Knoblauch decides to keep his current lines intact.
