Stanley Cup champion David Perron linked to Berube and the Leafs
Today a former player of new Toronto Maple Leafs head coach Craig Berube, David Perron has been connected to a reunion with him in Toronto.
The Toronto Maple Leafs are expected to be active in retooling their roster for next season under new head coach Craig Berube. One name that has now been linked to come to Toronto is former St. Louis Blues forward David Perron.
David Perron is set to become a UFA and has some history with Craig Berube.
Is David Perron A Good Fit For The Maple Leafs?
David Perron is a respected veteran in the NHL along with a Stanley Cup Champion during the 2019 season when Craig Berube took over in St. Louis. Now he is scheduled to be a free agent and many expect him to be the most desirable name that Craig Berube will want.
I'm telling you. David Perron in a depth role with Leafs makes a ton of sense for both sides.
At 36 years old heading into next season, David Perron is certainly not the player he used to be in his prime. This likely would mean if he signs in Toronto he would be more of a third-line depth piece for the team than a star winger part of the new core group.
With NHL Free Agency just over a month away teams will start to build their list of preferred players to land. When looking at the Toronto Maple Leafs targets expect David Perron to be near the top when July 1st comes and teams can begin talking with players.
