The Edmonton Oilers and Vancouver Canucks played a thriller in game one, but it was an injury to Leon Draisaitl that stole the headlines on Wednesday.

It may have been one of the most exciting playoff games in recent NHL memory, with the Vancouver Canucks coming back from a 4-1 deficit to take a 1-0 lead in the series as they took down the Oilers 5-4. That's a great story in its own right, but during the second period, the Oilers had to deal with the loss of Leon Draisaitl, who looked in major discomfort for his final shift of the game before he went back to the locker room.

"This was his last shift lasted 10 seconds with 8 mins to go in the period"

"Leon Draisaitl has left the Oilers bench and has yet to return."

Thankfully, following the chaotic battle, Head Coach Kris Knoblauch gave this encouraging update on one of his star forwards;

Kris Knoblauch called Leon Draisaitl's injury a cramping issue and added it isn't a long-term concern. Draisaitl was requested postgame but wasn't made available because he was getting worked on by the training staff.

It's never a positive sign to see one of the games biggest stars leave the ice in such a shocking way, but as Knoblauch reiterated, it's not expected to be a long-term concern. With this type of issue, there's a chance he could miss game two of this series, but with the Oilers looking to head back to Edmonton with a 1-1 mark rather than a 2-0 hole, he will certainly push to get back on Saturday.

Stay tuned however, as this injury could have a significant impact on this series moving forward.
