Matthew Tkachuk destroys the Toronto Maple Leafs
The Toronto Maple Leafs faced another heartbreak in overtime of game seven. Now, Florida Panthers superstar Matthew Tkachuk is adding salt to the wound with a significant shot at the team.
With the Maple Leafs being in the spotlight of the NHL's biggest market and boasting some of the loudest fans in the league, it seems like every year, there's a waiting game for their playoff downfall. And it turns out it's not just the fans who relish in their misfortune.
Tkachuk, when asked about the second-round matchup with the Boston Bruins, said,
Without this coming out too badly, I think we all knew it was probably going to Boston the way that series was going...I think throughout the whole series we were probably expecting they were going to come out and win it one way or another.
Even though the Leafs pushed game seven to overtime, Tkachuk was confident the Bruins would come out on top. And he's not alone in taking shots at Toronto. Brad Marchand also got in on the action during his post-game interview.
Looks like the Leafs are continuing their reign as one of the most disliked teams in the NHL. And now, they might just have a new nemesis to root against when the Panthers and the Bruins face off in round two of the Stanley Cup Playoffs beginning on Monday.
