It was reported by Colorado Avalanche journalist Adrian Dater that a former scout of the Montreal Canadiens has sadly passed away at age 46.

Masters was the video coach of the Colorado Avalanche, and also took on the role as pro scout for the Montreal Canadiens. It is with heavy hearts that his passing was announced by several insiders around the league today.

"RIP to former Avs video coach Scott Masters. Scott also worked in the Florida, St. Louis and Montreal organizations."

- Adrian Dater

Masters worked for the Canadiens for seven seasons, beginning in 2013 and ending in 2019. Prior to being with the Habs, he also held video coach positions for several teams, most notably the Colorado Avalanche, Florida Panthers and St. Louis Blues between 2001 and 2013.

Masters was the co-founder of Lacroix hockey, and explained in detail how he got his big break in the NHL while on the Hockey Minds Podcast show.

Masters said that his greatest mentor growing up was Doug Armstrong, a prominent GM in the NHL. Armstrong really believed in pro scouts and really helped Masters persevere and succeed at his job.

Rest in peace Scott, you will be terribly missed. Condolences to the entire Masters family.
