A reporter in Philadelphia is facing staunch criticism today after he acted inappropriately ahead of the funeral for Matthew and Johnny Gaudreau.

The journalist, who was outside the event, attempted to ask Cole Caufield a question as he was walking towards the building where the funeral was being held. He repeatedly called Cole's name until the Canadiens forward effectively shooed him away by waiving his hand and continuing to walk, without hesitating.

Many hockey fans took this as a sign of disrespect that a reporter would even attempt to get a question in during such a serious and heartbreaking event.

Luckily, the funeral services were unaffected by this unwanted behavior, and continued on as planned while the reporter in question remained outside, behind closed doors.

Meredith Gaudreau, Johnny's wife, gave a remarkable eulogy, sharing her love for her husband with everyone in attendance. She also shared some stories about him and revealed how deep his friendships were as he was such a loving person. Sean Monahan in particular had a close relationship with Johnny as Meredith pointed out.

Meredith also revealed a piece of news that is both inspiring and heartbreaking at the same time. Before his death, the couple were expecting their third child together as so another little piece of Johnny will live on, but without ever having a chance to know their father.

The late hockey star's wife also wanted to make a statement about the city of Columbus, where Johnny decided to sign the last contract of his career. The city has never been a destination for star players and the organization has consistently had a hard time attracting big name free agents until Johnny.

Yet Meredith revealed that her family, including Johnny, loved the city and its inhabitants, and were excited to spend their lives there, contrary to the public perception of the area.

We will not forget what Johnny meant to the game of hockey, and the cities of Calgary and Columbus. He was an icon to smaller players in the sport around the world and will continue to leave that legacy as more under-sized players, including Cole Caufield, take the league by storm.
