The New York Islanders 2023-24 season was on the verge of falling apart, but now Patrick Roy has seemingly injected some life into this team, and his changes are already apparent.

An intriguing new rule for the New York Islanders

While the team won their first game under Roy, the turnaround won't be immediate as they went on to drop their next two, but it's already clear just how he has changed the play of this team already.

Now, it has been revealed that Roy has instituted an intriguing new rule for the Islanders, where every player must come off together after practice.

Roy also demands that all players go off together after skates. #Isles

A new direction for Patrick Roy and the New York Islanders

This rule may not sound like a big deal, but often times, players can either end skates early or stay behind and get some extra work in, but under Roy's new rule, bringing the entire team off together is a way to bring the team together.

We've seen for years in sports that superstar players often stay after practice to get work in, and while they can do that on their own time, when a team practice is taking place, this intriguing rule will be implemented.

Ultimately, the talent on the ice for New York hasn't changed, so we may not expect this team to become Stanley Cup contenders anytime soon, but given the changes we've already seen from Roy in New York, it's clear that he was the right hire, and will help this team a lot going forward.
