Svechnikov tries to end Igor Shesterkin's season after dirty hit
Things got heated early on when Andrei Svechnikov decided to give Rangers goalie Igor Shesterkin a little trip behind the net with what looked like a deliberate can opener move.
The Carolina Hurricanes are out for redemption against the Rangers after dropping game one 4-3.
It was midway through the first period, Shesterkin ventured out of his net to handle the puck, and here comes Svechnikov, not even bothering to dodge him. Instead, he planted his stick right in the goalie's path.
The Blueshirts weren't too pleased about it. They erupted into a frenzy, starting a scrum on the ice. They were so riled up that they ended up shuffling towards the penalty boxes, with Shesterkin himself trying to get a piece of Svechnikov in the midst of the chaos!
Now, In Game 1 the Rangers capitalized on their power plays, scoring twice. But tonight, they couldn't pull it off, and the Hurricanes are holding onto a 2-1 lead as they head into the second period.
