This is unlikely because of the rollercoaster season Samsonov had. He started rocky, and then went on waivers, and then bounced back, and then fell apart in the Stanley Cup Playoffs. Goaltenders are voodoo, and Samsonov's season proves that.
It's clear Samsonov holds himself to a high standard, but current Maple Leafs general manager Brad Treliving will be looking to upgrade his goaltending depth through free agency.
When called upon, Joseph Woll played solid when healthy and Martin Jones provided an experienced and calm third-string option. Samsonov is a pending unrestricted free agent and will likely have to find a new home elsewhere in the NHL.
The ups and downs of Samsonov's season is likely going to be the reason he either gets a one-year show-me contract or an offer elsewhere on July 1st. Joseph Woll is making less than the league minimum as he signed his current contract before the league minimum went up.
This will be the deciding factor that keeps Woll in Toronto and Samsonov a new home.
With Jones likely to re-sign and play a handful of games to provide depth and stability in net for Toronto, one has to believe if Brad Treliving goes down the trade route for a new partner to stabilize his goaltending duo.
