This is unlikely because of the rollercoaster season Samsonov had. He started rocky, and then went on waivers, and then bounced back, and then fell apart in the Stanley Cup Playoffs. Goaltenders are voodoo, and Samsonov's season proves that.
When called upon, Joseph Woll played solid when healthy and Martin Jones provided an experienced and calm third-string option. Samsonov is a pending unrestricted free agent and will likely have to find a new home elsewhere in the NHL.
With Jones likely to re-sign and play a handful of games to provide depth and stability in net for Toronto, one has to believe if Brad Treliving goes down the trade route for a new partner to stabilize his goaltending duo.
