Many things are expected to change in Toronto this summer. General manager Brad Treliving will look to make his team even more competitive on the free agency and the trade market.
The biggest hole to fill in the line up is at the blue line and many players could be available for Treliving.
A new report from Elliotte Friedman suggests that the Leafs should go after Seth Jones from the Chicago Blackhawks.
Considering that the Hawks already traded many key players in recent years, and that Connor Bedard's addition accelerated the rebuilding process, it would be surprising to see the team trade their top defenseman.
Jones, 29, scored 31 points, including eight goals in 67 games this season. He's one the second season of his eight year, $9,500,000 AAV conract.
He would be a great addition to the Leafs' defensive unit. At 6'4" and 95 kg, his combination of size, skills and speed fits well in Brad Treliving's tastes in defensemen.
Leafs fans will be able to watch him at the upcoming Mens' World Championship, as Jones is set to represent the United States in Czechia.
