The Toronto Maple Leafs goaltending was a major question mark last season, and with Ilya Samsonov's arbitration hearing less than 24-hours away, it appears the two sides aren't close on a new deal.
With plenty of options out there, the Maple Leafs should be exploring all possibilities ahead of another playoff push in 2023-24, and now, it appears they may have found their next target.
Hart Could Be an Option
According to BrotherlyPuck, the Maple Leafs still have one key target for next year, and that is Flyers net minder Carter Hart, who is coming off yet another solid season.
The Maple Leafs believe they could get him back to the elite status we saw back in 2019-20 that saw him tally a 24-13 record with a .914 save percentage and just 2.42 GAA.
Is a trade here possible?
Any trade that happens to land Hart in Toronto would involve many moving pieces, and if it were to come to fruition, it would likely be a three-team deal to see the Leafs finally land a goalie capable of being a star.
At this point, the Leafs arbitration hearing will be key to how they proceed this off-season, but after finally escaping the first round a season ago, they are now looking to make another big push for the Stanley Cup.
As Read On Blade Of Steel - Report - Carter Hart could still be traded to the Toronto Maple Leafs
