BREAKING: Penguins Organization Makes Massive Equipment Change Following the Death of Adam Johnson
Former Pittsburgh Penguin Adam Johnson passed over the weekend in a freak accident that had his throat cut. The Penguins have now responded by making a change.
Penguins Mandate Neck Guards
Over the weekend the hockey world was shaken to its core after former Pittsburgh Penguin Adam Johnson passed away at 29 years old following a freak accident. The accident has been a reality check for many players and teams and now they are moving towards being more careful.
The Pittsburgh Penguins, Johnson's former team, have just mandated neck guards for their ECHL and AHL affiliates and will be strongly recommending neck guards to their NHL players.
Per Mike Sullivan, the Penguins will mandate neck protection for their AHL and ECHL teams.
No hard mandate can be made at the NHL level but they will heavily recommend such a measure.
We are now moving towards an era where neck guards will be commonplace at the top level and the Penguins will certainly be at the forefront of the change.
