Justin Holl Fires A Second Shot At The Toronto Maple Leafs
The Toronto Maple Leafs and Justin Holl parted ways this summer when he signed with the Detroit Red Wings. Holl is off to a good start with his new team and has now taken a shot at his former team.
Holl Starts Off Strong In Detroit
This offseason Justin Holl decided to part ways with the Toronto Maple Leafs. He signed a 3-year deal with an AAV of $3,400,000 in Detroit. Now he's off to an insane start with his new team.
Justin Holl in his first 5 games for Detroit:
> 3 Assists for 3 Points (T-2nd among Detroit D)
> Detroit outscoring opps 10-1 at EV with Holl on the ice
> 4 Blocked Shots
> 2.88 5v5 xGF/60 (7th on Detroit)
> 1.88 5v5 xGA/60 (4th on Detroit)
Like we all expected right?
Holl has been one of the biggest reasons that the Detroit Red Wings are significantly improved. They currently sit in second place in the Atlantic Division ahead of Holl's former team the Toronto Maple Leafs.
When speaking to the media recently Holl had some interesting things to say about his former team.
Holl Fires A Second Shot At The Maple Leafs
Justin Holl's inconsistent play while with the Maple Leafs is widely documented. Many fans grew tired of him, especially in the playoffs last season. One season went so far as to make a low-light mixtape of Holl after he decided to sign in Detroit.
Justin Holl will be missed. #LeafsForever
With his electric start to the season in Detroit Holl decided to take a shot at his former team.
I have no qualms about moving on, but I was really grateful for my time in Toronto. That being said, this is just what was next in my path to development I think and how the contract situation works out and everything like that, I'm grateful to be in a place that I'm valued and I'm just ready to keep moving.
While he doesn't mention the Maple Leafs specifically he does say he's grateful to be in a place that he's valued.
This would lead one to believe he didn't feel valued by fans or the organization. With the way he was treated while in Toronto it is not difficult to assume that this is what he meant.
Now with the season in full swing, Holl will continue to try and help lead the Red Wings to a playoff berth.
He will have his first opportunity to play the Maple Leafs and get some revenge on November 17th when the Maple Leafs come to Detroit.
