BREAKING: Penguins Place Two Surprising Forwards on Waivers
In breaking news, the Pittsburgh Penguins have placed these two surprising forwards on waivers today.
Penguins place Nylander and Johnsson on Waivers Today
The Penguins have released forwards Alex Nylander and Andreas Johnsson from the roster today, placing them on waivers in order to send them down to the AHL.
This comes as a surprise as Johnsson was recently signed by Kyle Dubas this offseason. Nylander also resigned this past offseason.
Today: DeSimone, Pettersen, Pospisil (CAL); Johnsson, Koppanen, Nylander (PIT); Carrick, Hughes, Lind, McCormick, Olofsson, Poturalski, Reinke, Schuldt, Shore & Studenic (SEA).
The Penguins are hopeful to turn their season around this year after a disappointing end to last season.
Johnsson Former Leaf Who Followed Dubas to Pittsburgh
Andreas Johnsson being placed on waivers is a particularly interesting case as he is a former Leaf who presumably had some relationship with GM Kyle Dubas before signing this year in Pittsburgh.
Although Johnsson spent some time playing in the AHL between his Leaf days and now, however, the move is certainly worthy of some eyebrow-raising.
