The Penguins President has shared what was going through his mind during the Erik Karlsson trade talks.

Dubas Trades For Karlsson

Yesterday, Kyle Dubas and the Pittsburgh Penguins sent shockwaves all around the NHL by trading for Erik Karlsson.

The trade talks were a lengthy process with Karlsson being in trade rumors for the past two to three months and the Penguins being linked to him the entire time.

Dubas Reveals Thoughts

Today, Kyle Dubas spoke to the media about what it was like to trade for Erik Karlsson and what was going through his mind during the trade process.

"It was a fairly lengthy process with San Jose... It gains us the flexibility we want. We need to improve our ability to move the puck out of our own zone and Erik does that."

Dubas also shared how he was worried about another team scooping up Karlsson before the Penguins could do so.

"You always think that. Maybe just paranoia just goes with this. You stay up all night staring up at the ceiling wondering about how you're going to do this."

While acquiring Erik Karlsson is a massive gamble, it is a worthwhile one at that due to Karlsson's potential as a playmaker for the Penguins. If he is able to build off his career year in Pittsburgh, we could see the Penguins go the distance.
