MAJOR: Penguins Announce Injury To One Of Their Newest Additions
The Pittsburgh Penguins added several new pieces under general manager Kyle Dubas Unfortunately one of those major additions has suffered an injury.
Penguins New Addition Suffers Major Injury
The Pittsburgh Penguins announced yesterday that one of their biggest offseason additions has suffered a major injury. Goaltender Alex Nedeljkovic has suffered a long-term injury and has been placed on injured reserve. Nedeljkovic had played only 2 games this season.
The Penguins have placed goaltender Alex Nedeljkovic on injured reserve and re-assigned forward Radim Zohorna to the @WBSPenguins.
Goaltender Magnus Hellberg and forward Corey Andonovski have been recalled from WBS. Currently the specific injury and Nedeljkovic's recovery time has not been announced.
Hellberg Comes In To Save The Day
In a corresponding move, Magnus Hellberg has been added to the roster. The 32 year old goaltender has 23 games of NHL experience and another 193 in the AHL. The veteran will be a solid option in the short term to fill in for the injured Nedeljkovic.
If Nedeljkovic is to be out for the season the Penguins might need to consider finding another backup goaltender option. This could happen through the trade market or waivers.
If Hellberg struggles in his first appearances in a Penguins uniform this season look for fans and media to start calling for a trade.
