The San Jose Sharks have been in the same arena for over 30 years, but now it appears as though the team are on the verge of relocation.
Way back in 1991, the San Jose Sharks entered the NHL and have played in the SAP Center arena since 1993, but according to a shock report from Sharks beat writer Sheng Peng, that could all be about to change.
Even if the #Sharks 🇺🇸 have to move out of San Jose due to the new SAP Center agreement, they will remain in the Bay Area.
On July 1st, 2025, the San Jose Sharks' arena management agreement with the city of San Jose changes, «unfavorably» for the Sharks, according to the Sharks' president Jonathan Becher.
The top options would likely be San Francisco or Oakland, but the team will push hard to remain in San Jose.
Reportedly, the SAP Center agreement is heavily unfavourable for the Sharks organization, with the franchise considering relocation, but due to the agreement, they would remain local, likely targeting either San Francisco or Oakland as their new home.
It's unclear in the report how close the organization is to potentially moving, but after how much the Sharks organization has meant to the city over the past three decades, it would be an absolute shock to see the Sharks play in any city other than San Jose.
