Nikita Kucherov likely to face discipline for bloody hit
The Montreal Canadiens are currently facing off against the Tampa Bay Lightning, the game is still ongoing and fans are already talking about Nikita Kucherov's illegal hit against Kaiden Guhle.
The illegal boarding hit was not called by any of the officials, but fans have pointed out that the replay clearly shows that Kucherov hit Guhle from behind, right in the numbers. The department of player safety has been making an active effort to crack down on illegal hits, meaning that they will most likely decide to suspend Kucherov.
A suspension would be bad news for Kucherov, especially since he is competing against Nathan MacKinnon and Connor McDavid for the Art Ross Trophy. His suspension would definitely eliminate him from the race for the trophy.
Another video shows that Guhle's mouth was bleeding after Kucherov's hit. Guhle has continuously proved that he can compete against the tough competition in the NHL. He has had a very good season so far, scoring 6 goals in his role as a defenseman. Guhle's future looks bright, this hit should only be a small bump in his career.
The department of player safety has to decide if they will suspend Kucherov for this illegal hit, stay tuned for more updates.
