The Tampa Bay Lightning have agreed to a seven-year contract extension with Jake Guentzel who they traded for just earlier today.

Earlier today news of a Jake Guentzel trade broke that saw the Tampa Bay Lightning send a third-round pick to the Carolina Hurricanes in exchange for the rights to negotiate with Jake Guentzel a day early.
Latest addition coming to Tampa! ⚡️

We have acquired forward Jake Guentzel from the Carolina Hurricanes in exchange for a third-round pick in the 2025 NHL Draft.

Then tonight NHL insider Pierre LeBrun shared that Guentzel would be signing a seven-year contract with the Lightning.
Still not finalized, but all signs point to Tampa getting Jake Guentzel signed to a 7-year deal. I would expect an announcement sometime tomorrow before the market opens. The Bolts weren't going to trade for his rights without feeling good about their chances to get him signed.

Guentzel scored 25 points in 17 games with the Carolina Hurricanes after being moved from the Pittsburgh Penguins.
He will now team up with Brayden Point and Nikita Kucherov to create a dominant trio up front. He will also be replacing Steven Stamkos who the Lightning are letting walk to free agency.
