William Nylander has been making headlines around the NHL after news came out that he and the Leafs are very far apart in terms of a new deal.
William Nylander the Player
Nylander is asking for over $10 million meanwhile the Leafs are offering $8 million.
Nylander has been point-per-game for the Leafs the past couple seasons including a 40 goal season this past year.
He was also considered the best player the Leafs had during their playoff run with 10 points in 11 games.
The Mock Trade
The Calgarian-born player has been in trade speculation now and the most recent one has Nylander going to Toronto's biggest rival the Montreal Canadiens.
Mike Matheson has been a really solid defenseman for the Montreal Canadiens collecting 34 points in 48 games this past season while also being a positive rating player on a team that was at the bottom of the Atlantic division.
The Leafs would also acquire Riley Kidney and Jordan Harris in the trade. Riley Kidney is a skilled playmaking prospect that lit up the QMJHL putting up 110 points in 60 games.
Jordan Harris is a young up and coming defenseman for the Montreal Canadiens and in 65 games he collected 17 points in that span.
The Leafs would also get a 2025 2nd round pick.
