In one of the most highly anticipated matchups of the first round of the 2023 Stanley Cup playoffs, the Toronto Maple Leafs will once again face off against the Tampa Bay Lightning.
Despite their valiant effort last year, the Leafs were unable to overcome the Lightning, ultimately losing the series in seven games.
This could be the Leafs best opportunity to break that playoff series drought.
Pride on the Line
It's worth noting that the Leafs haven't won a playoff series since 2004. However, this year they have the advantage of playing on home ice, and with the addition of new players to their roster following the trade deadline, they may have a stronger team than in previous years. General Manager Kyle Dubas has gone all in, hoping that this will be the year that the Leafs finally take a serious run for the Stanley Cup - something they haven't achieved since 1967.
