Patrick Kane one of the best playmakers in the NHL for many years. After struggling with the Rangers last season, Kane decided to have hip surgery done to fix a lingering issue he had been dealing with.
Since having his surgery Kane and his agent have made it clear they will get the contract that he wants to sign and are willing to wait for it.
The four teams that have been linked to Kane are the Buffalo Sabres, Detroit Red Wings, New York Rangers and the Toronto Maple Leafs. Larry Brooks of the NY Post believes that a New York reunion is not in the cards with how the season ended.
If Kane were to actually want to play for the Leafs, then some cap maneuvering would be done in order to be cap compliant.
The Leafs have always been known to be up front heavy but do the Leafs need the help on the offensive end?
Through their first 6 games, Toronto has a record of 4-2, they have scored 22 goals which puts them 11th in the league for goals for this season. However the bad side is the Leafs have allowed 20 goals against which puts them 17th in the league for goals against.
Would adding a player that has been known to be a defensive liability be an improvement or would it make their chances of winning that much lower. If the Leafs and Kane make a deal, they would be trying to outscore their problems which has been known to fail in NHL history.
