Joseph Woll was not on the ice for Toronto's practice following the All-Star break, a setback to the expectation the Leafs netminder would be ready to resume activity post all-star game.
Maple Leafs Head Coach Sheldon Keefe was expecting Woll to be back for Toronto by this time, but appears to be still a bit away.
Woll has been out since early December with an ankle sprain, having been present with the team since. Woll was speculated to potentially be out a bit longer past the all-star break, but his absence makes clear his timetable to return to game action is still murky.
The 27-year-old Woll is 8-5-1 with the Toronto Maple Leafs this season, with a 2.80GAA and a .916SV%.
With Woll's extended absence, The Leafs are continuing to role with the goaltending tandem of Ilya Samsonov and Martin Jones. Toronto is 12-8-4 without Woll since his injury.
Toronto has had an on-and-off 2024, starting the year on a four game winning streak, following by a four game winless skid, and now a recent positive run, winning 4 of their last 5. The Leafs host the New York Islanders tomorrow at Scotiabank Arena, with the starter unannounced.
