Matthew Knies' rookie season is one of the most anticipated aspects of the 2023-24 season in Toronto.
The Leafs' 57th overall pick in 2021 impressed in the NCAA, impressed when he joined the Maple Leafs last season, and continues to impress in training camp. It's safe to say that if he remains healthy and continues to perform like this, he will play 82 games in the NHL this season.
Also, playing with the Maple Leafs would be considerably better for his development. Playing with Auston Matthews, Mitch Marner, William Nylander, and John Tavares certainly helps one become better.
In last night's post-game interview, Knies was involved in a funny situation that shows he has his place in the locker room.
Mark Giordano, one of the Leafs' most respected veterans, made a joke when Knies was asked about what it's like playing with an "elder statesman".
You can hear the whole thing in the video below:
This is great to see and it indicates real team chemistry in the Leafs' locker room.
We can't wait to see that chemistry on the ice this year!
