NHLPA Makes Incredible Gesture in Honour of Borje Salming
Borje Salming played in the NHL for 17 seasons, 16 of them for the Leafs and one for Detroit. He was inducted into the NHL Hockey Hall of Fame in 1996, and was the first European player to play 1000 NHL games, he was beloved by the Leafs and hockey fans all across the NHL.
The NHL Contributes a Generous Donation
Sadly, Salming passed away at 71-years-old in 2022 due to ALS, a horrible disease that left him unable to talk and eat. The NHL has honoured him with many awards, and they have also donated a considerable sum of money to the Borje Salming ALS foundation, that was created in honour of Salming.
It is incredibly generous of the league to contribute towards the ALS foundation, It is very nice to see the Leafs and the league honour a former star.
