It has certainly been an incredible couple of days for the Domi family.
Max Domi decided to sign a one-year contract with the Toronto Maple Leafs on Sunday. Clearly, it seems like the former Stars player wants to prove himself and obtain a bigger contract next season.
But, will it be with the Leafs?
Max Domi to sign a long-term deal with the Maple Leafs
According to Elliotte Friedman, Domi clearly wants to be a part of the Toronto Maple Leafs for a long time.
"Max Domi, he wants this to be his NHL home for a long time, he wants to be a Leaf, he's got the bloodlines to be a Leaf, he'll do anything to stay a Leaf. He never wants to leave here, it's a powerful motivator and that's a major reason he's here and they wanted him." - Elliotte Friedman
After all, we can understand him. Toronto is his home, and he clearly sees an opportunity to finally settle with a team for several seasons. As a reminder, Domi already played for 6 teams since the beginning of his career.
What kind of contract could he sign?
That's the big question.
It will all depends on his performances. If he plays like last year, he could probably ask for a 3 or 4 years contract around $5 million per season. And, if we look at his production last year, there's no doubt that it will be even better this season as he will have way better linemates than in Chicago.
Once again, he will have to show Brad Treliving that he deserves a big contract!
