TSN Releases Statement on the Mysterious Disappearance of Jeff O'Neill
The parent company of TSN, Bell Media, has released a statement on the absence of a popular radio host and retired NHLer who hasn't been heard on-air in days. Jeff O'Neill, who co-hosts OverDrive on TSN 1050 with Brian Hayes and Jamie MacLellan, was missing from the show for several days last week. Hayes and MacLellan returned from the weekend break on Monday with former NHLer Frank Corrado filling in. There was no mention of O'Neill. The Athletic reached out to Bell Media for a statement.
The company was brief; it would only say O'Neill was officially "on leave" from his position. A spokesperson refused to comment any further. The Athletic said it also tried to reach out to O'Neill himself, but received no response.
O' Neill joined TSN as a radio host in 2013. He's been a member of the OverDrive crew since 2019. O'Neill played 821 regular season games in the NHL, including his final two seasons as a member of the Toronto Maple Leafs. He scored 237 goals and 496 points during that time.
