The Toronto Maple Leafs have made some solid additions this off-season, but with their salary cap situation, it appears they will be forced to move some key pieces out in the coming weeks.

A veteran D-man

A blockbuster deal for the likes of Mitch Marner or William Nylander could potentially still be on the table, however, there's much more feasible moves to be made, with one veteran defenceman seemingly a certainty to be moved.

That would be TJ Brodie, who joined the Leafs from the Calgary Flames three seasons ago, and since that point, he's been key to their blue line success, racking up 56 points over that time.

No choice but to make a move

Unfortunately, he carries a $5 million cap hit this upcoming season, and with Toronto still over the cap even after their Matt Murray move, they will be forced to make a change, and Brodie makes the most sense at this point.

He still carries value, so the Maple Leafs could get a valuable future asset in return for him, but regardless, this is a team that's ready for a Stanley Cup run, and if they can make the right move to get under the salary cap, they'll be dangerous once again in 2023-24.
