In their list, the NHL Network have Toronto's Mitch Marner at No. 6, and while Matthew Tkachuk and David Pastrnak certainly belong atop this list, an argument can be made for Marner to slide in above the other three.
In 80 games a season ago, Marner tallied 30 goals and 99 points while playing with an injured Auston Matthews, and with a two-way game that has made him a Selke Trophy finalist, Marner deserves more respect among the NHL community.
Over the past three seasons, no winger in the NHL has scored more points than Marner at 263 (McDavid and Draisaitl clear), and with a two way game that has him among the best in the league in takeaways at the position and chances created, he is arguably top-three wingers in the league.
The NHL also have many stats to determine which players have created the most chances with a combination of shots, defensive plays and passing, and unsurprisingly, Marner tops the list yet again around the league.
Ultimately, Mitch Marner is one of the elite players in today's game, as he plays both sides of the puck, makes his own chances and creates for teammates, and now, Leafs fans will be hoping that the disrespect motivates him to put up another massive year in 2023-24.
