The Toronto Maple Leafs have had a busy summer under new GM Brad Treliving, but this latest piece from the NHL Network has shown that next year might be even busier.
Key free agents
The NHL Network's latest tweet was regarding next summer's free agency class, and highlight in there are not one, not two, but three players from the Toronto Maple Leafs.
The team and their fans will be hoping to get a deal done for either or both William Nylander and Auston Matthews, because if they get to free agency next summer, an incredible bidding war would erupt.
New look Leafs?
On top of that, Ilya Samsonov also features after coming to terms on a one-year deal with arbitration this summer, and now, the team will have to decide whether he's the goaltender for their future or not during the 2023-24 season.
Ultimately, it's unlikely that Matthews or Nylander get to next summer as Leafs free agents, as the team will be looking at a trade or an extension, but if they do, it will end up being a very expensive summer for Brad Treliving.
