Wayne Gretzky Weighs In On Maple Leafs Offseason Additions

The Toronto Maple Leafs made arguably the busiest offseason in the NHL. They brought in a new General Manager and several new key players. Now The Great One has weighed in on Brad Treliving and the Leafs' other offseason moves.

During this segment on Leafs morning take Wayne Gretzky spoke about the Leafs. He was very complimentary of several of their players. One of the additions mentioned specifically was Ryan Reaves. Here are Gretzky's comments on Reaves.

Reaves brings physicality and a good locker room presence to Toronto. He has been well-liked by every team he's been on according to many around the league. He also now has the Gretzky endorsement which can say a lot.

Next, Gretzky commented on the hiring of Brad Treliving. Gretzky also praised Toronto for this addition saying that Treliving is the right man for the job.

The pair worked together when Gretzky had a front-office position with the Arizona Coyotes. He thinks that Treliving has the personality and the ability to make things work in a city like Toronto.

Finally, Gretzky mentions how his dad was a Leafs fan when he was growing up and how he'd be pulling for the Leafs going forward.

With this quote, Wayne gives a loving tribute back to his dad Walter who was a massive influence on the hockey world much like his son.

Unfortunately, Walter passed away in 2021. While his dad may not be able to see the Leafs win the cup if they do it's sure to be a bittersweet feeling for Wayne and his family.
