Toronto Maple Leafs head coach Craig Berube will have some say in who his assistants are and he could be looking to bring in one of his former co-workers to Toronto.

Before becoming the head coach of the St. Louis Blues in 2019, Craig Berube was their assistant under Mike Yeo. When Yeo was fired, Berube stepped up and led the Blues to a Stanley Cup.

Yesterday Yeo parted ways with the Vancouver Canucks, reportedly on his own accord per insider Elliotte Friedman.

Friedman says Mike Yeo turned down a contract offer from the #Canucks

Suggests he's looking at other options

«I wonder if there's another coach out there that has a connection with Mike Yeo and wants him or Yeo sees another situation out there he wants to take a look at»

Yeo, a native of Toronto, has obvious ties to Berube and with it being reported that Yeo wants an opportunity closer to home, it seems like the Leafs are the perfect team for him.

Mike Yeo is headed for a new opportunity 'closer to home.'

Yeo is from Toronto. And his former associate coach in St. Louis has just taken over *in* Toronto...

We will wait and see if Berube decides to bring in Yeo but as it stands, things look like it could be the perfect fit.
