Boston Bruins forward Jake DeBrusk is set to hit free agency on July first and one of the teams reportedly interested in pursuing him is the Toronto Maple Leafs.

DeBrusk has proven to be a consistent middle-six forward with the Bruins over the course of his career, regularly hitting the 20 goal and 40 point marks. He tends to elevate his game in the playoffs as well. This year he had 5 goals and 11 points in 13 games. However, the 27-year-old is set to hit free agency this summer as the Bruins have yet to offer him a contract extension. As a result, teams around the league are starting to look at the possibility of signing him, including the Toronto Maple Leafs.

With all of that being said, DeBrusk has not expressed any desire to play anywhere else. After the Bruins were eliminated from the playoffs, he revealed that he would very much like to re-sign with the team.
"I've always loved my time here."

Jake DeBrusk still envisions himself being a member of the Bruins next season despite free agency looming.

Furthermore, Bruins fans largely seem like they would prefer to keep DeBrusk around as well. Many have pointed to his playoffs production and flexibility in the lineup as reasons to bring the 27-year-old back. However, if the team doesn't want him back as well then things simply might not work out.
Jake DeBrusk— led Bruins in playoffs points/goals, is third on team since 2021 in playoff points, scores 24G per-82GP in the regular season, plays LW/RW anywhere in the lineup, plays the PK, wants to be in Boston and turns 28 in October. That's not a guy you let walk. #NHLBruins

Be sure to stay tuned into the Bruins this summer as the team has several big decisions to make, some of which will certainly impact the plans of other teams, possibly including the Toronto Maple Leafs.
