The Boston Bruins' captain Brad Marchand made a surprising statement about the rivalry with the Toronto Maple Leafs.

The Bruins and the Leafs, two original six teams, are set to faceoff in the first round of the playoffs tomorrow. Ahead of the matchup, Brad Marchand made some surprising comments about their rivalry, and it also involved the Montreal Canadiens.

"#NHLBruins winger Brad Marchand was asked about the rivalry with #LeafsForever and said he thinks it has surpassed the one with #GoHabsGo.

He also admitted that the Leafs were his favorite team growing up. Not surprisingly, he said Darcy Tucker and Doug Gilmour were his favs."

Boston-Montreal, Toronto-Montreal, Boston-Toronto, are among the biggest rivalries in all sports. For the last century, these teams battled many times on the ice, which led to historic moments that defined the legacy of the sport.

However, with the Canadiens out of the playoff race for the past few years, the Leafs and the Bruins played more high-stakes games against each other than against the Habs.

Marchand's comments reflect that the Leafs and the Bruins' rivalry reached another level because their both top teams in their division. If, or when, the Canadiens get back on top, the rivalry should be a bit more heated than it has been in recent years.
