Toronto Maple Leafs GM Brad Treliving made a trade deadline move with the Carolina Hurricanes bringing in 6'7 defenseman Cade Webber. Now, Brad Treliving looks primed to lock up Cade Webber.

Just ahead of the trade deadline earlier this month, Brad Treliving moved for defenseman Cade Webber from the Carolina Hurricanes.

The Toronto Maple Leafs only had to part with a 2026 6th round pick for Cade Webber. Fans have been quick to point this out as one of Treliving's most underrated moves as Webber recently won best defensive defenseman of the year in all of Hockey East.

Never a doubt who was getting this award.

Congrats to Cade Webber on being selected as the Best Defensive Defenseman in Hockey East!

In addition to this, Webber also now holds the single-season record for the most blocked shots in a season.

The new single-season blocked shots record holder in D1 men's @NCAAIceHockey history is Cade Webber.

Quite an impressive player to net for only a 6th round pick.

Cade Webber Confirms To Toronto Maple Leafs Reporters That He Intends On Signing With The Toronto Maple Leafs

In a recent interview with The Athletic's Josh Kloke, Webber revealed that he intends on signing with the Toronto Maple Leafs. He stated the following during the interview.

"I'm humbled (the Leafs) traded for me. I'm excited to be part of an organization that has historic track record and is on the edge of a Stanley Cup." - Cade Webber

On potentially signing with the Toronto Maple Leafs, Webber said the following:

"That's the plan. I want to get up there, compete, and be part of what's happening there for the next few years." - Cade Webber
