Now, the Maple Leafs have issued an update on Auston Matthews' status, and it is quite worrisome.
Worrisome Update on Auston Matthews' Health From the Toronto Maple Leafs
A sickness seems to be passing through the Maple Leafs locker room, and it has affected Mitch Marner, John Tavares, and William Nylander. Auston Matthews has been unaffected up until this point, but nothing is being taken for granted.
While Auston Matthews opted to practice today, Sheldon Keefe forced him off the ice. Keefe gave this reasoning for the move:
"The All-Star guys kind of grinded through last week ... Does that contribute to why Marner & Nylander are sick? I don't know, but we have to be very mindful of that... Auston wanted to skate today, but I wanted to make sure he kept it short"
