This afternoon the Toronto Maple Leafs have made a roster move that has some fans questioning the future. The roster move removes a young defenseman from the roster in favor of a potential upgrade.

Maple Leafs Quietly Remove A Player From Their Roster

Today a roster move was noticed by Toronto Maple Leafs reporter Jonas Siegel that has gone under the radar. Defenseman Max Lajoie has been removed from the team's 23-man active roster.

Max Lajoie is no longer on the Leafs active roster.

That puts the Leafs at 21 players. Which means one more roster move to accommodate the eventual returns of Mark Giordano, Joseph Woll, and Calle Järnkrok.

The belief is that this roster move is to create space for returning players such as Mark Giordano, Joseph Woll, and Calle Jarnkrok. However, it has not yet been announced that Lajoie has been assigned to the Toronto Marlies which is a bit odd. The final roster move has also not been announced but is speculated to be related to goaltender Martin Jones when the time comes for Joseph Woll to return.

As more information is provided on the return of any of the players listed or the eventual destination of the now non-rostered Max Lajoie we will continue to update you.
