After a solid run in Toronto, Kyle Dubas was moved on by the Maple Leafs, but now new GM Brad Treliving has been passed over for a highly important role.
Despite Kyle Dubas being let go by the Maple Leafs over a year ago, the comparisons between he and Brad Treliving continue. Now, the rivalry has reached new heights, with Hockey Canada officially passing over Treliving to appoint Dubas to an intriguing role.
🇨🇦 @HockeyCanada has announced that Kyle Dubas will serve as the director of player personnel for the #4Nations Face-Off in February 2025, while Julien BriseBois has been named the assistant general manager for the tournament.
According to a press release on social media, Hockey Canada has snubbed Treliving and instead given Kyle Dubas the role of Director of Player Personnel for the upcoming 4Nations Face-off.
Alongside Dubas will be Tampa Bay Lightning GM Julien Brisebois, who will serve as the Assistant General Manager for the tournament, meaning that Trelviing was passed over not just once, but twice.
It's unclear what the reasoning behind the move is, but with this being the first international stage involving NHLers in quite some time, it's incredibly important for these countries, with Canada clearly feeling as though Dubas and Brisebois were better suited to the roles.
