Toronto Maple Leafs sign forward Connor Dewar to contract extension

The Toronto Maple Leafs have re-signed forward Connor Dewar to a one-year contract extension, the team has announced.

According to the team's official press release, Dewar's deal will be for one year at a $1.18M AAV.

The signing avoids Dewar and the Leafs having to head to an arbitration heading. Toronto acquired Dewar from the Minnesota Wild in March in exchange for prospecr forward Dmitry Ovchinnikov and a 2026 fourth round pick.

Dewar, 25, had 11 goals, 8 assists & 19 points in 74 games with Minnesota & Toronto in the 2023-24 NHL season. Dewar had an assist in 6 playoff games for the Leafs in the 2024 Stanley Cup Playoffs.

Dewar underwent shoulder surgery at the end of the 2023-24 NHL season, expected to recover and be ready in time for the Leafs training camp.

Selected as a third round pick of the Minnesota Wild in the 2018 NHL Draft, 92nd overall, Dewar debuted with Minnesota in the 2021-22 season, playing three seasons with the Wild before being traded to Toronto. Dewar has a career total of 19 goals, 24 assists & 43 points in 190 NHL games.
