Auston Matthews hasn't scored in six straight games. Is it time for the Maple Leafs to start worrying about it? According to the man himself -- you shouldn't be concerned.

It was Jan. 22 when Matthews last scored against Columbus, and with the 4 Nations Face-Off right around the corner, it's concerning for Team USA as well.

But he does have seven points since that span, so it's not like he's struggling and if you were to ask Matthews himself -- things are going to be just fine:

I mean, it's been fine. I think you always want to play better. Obviously you want to score, but the opportunities are there.

His head coach wasn't too concerned either:

I mean, he's playing pretty well. I mean, he had six shots last night (vs. Seattle), three or four of them were very dangerous. I mean, they'll go in.

But should we be concerned about his lack of scoring anyways? Let's take a look.

Auston Matthews Shoots; But Isn't Scoring

You can't fault Matthews for trying as the Leafs captain has 27 shots since the Columbus game, averaging 4.5 per game. Call it bad luck, or good goaltending -- either way they just aren't going in.

But Matthews has been given a more complete role this season, and his expectation to play more defense and kill penalties leave to a bit less shooting chances.

He also missed 15 games this season, so if you were to add those into the mix he could easily have another 10-12 goals especially with his shooting pace. It's less about the Auston Matthews show and more about playing a 200-foot game.

His teammates aren't scoring at a rapid pace either although William Nylander and Bobby McMann have 9 goals on 41 shots -- a 21.95% shooting percentage so luckily for the Leafs they have them to fall back on.

He's expected to play a huge part in Team USA's road to glory at the 4 Nations, and if the team is solely reliant on his goal-scoring they may find themselves dispirited.

Though if Matthews can find his form in the tournament, that spells not only good news for the Americans -- but for Maple Leafs fans especially.

What do YOU think? Are you concerned about Auston Matthews' scoring drought? Let us know!
