Yesterday, we reported that Derek Lalonde, assistant coach for the Red Wings and former colleague of Jon Cooper, revealed some important information about Andrei Vasilevskiy that could drastically harm the Bolt's goaltender.

In short, the former Lightning assistant coach revealed Vasilevskiy's alleged biggest flaw.

"We did a study...he was one of the lower-percentage goalies in finding pucks from the point...we changed our entire D-zone (coverage)."

Then, Cooper fired back.

Jon Cooper Sets the Record Straight After False Rumors on Vasilevskiy

The Bolts' head coach revealed that the statement made by Lalonde isn't accurate and that the rumors spread on Vasilevskiy's alleged weakness aren't true.

"Sportsnet pays him well to give his opinion, so he has to come up with something about stuff like this." - Jon Cooper

"He's just there because he was an assistant coach on that team. So, he's trying to give insight and trying to give something relevant to the fans, and he should just make sure it's accurate." via Lightning Insider

Any coach probably would have done the same thing to protect their player. But in the next game, we'll likely see the Leafs try many shots from the blue line.

The timing isn't ideal as Tampa Bay's season will come to an end if the Leafs can defeat Vasilevskiy.

The series continue tonight in Toronto.
